April 2 (SeeNews) - Foreign direct investments (FDI) in Bosnia and Herzegovina jumped 57.3% to 758.4 million marka ($478.1 million/387.8 million euro) in 2017, the country's Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA) said.
"This is a significant increase, given that in recent years there has been mainly a decline in foreign investment inflows in Bosnia and Herzegovinaр" FIPA said in a statement late on Friday, citing central bank data.
The agency expects the uptrend in FDI to continue throughout this year.
It, however, said that in order for investments in Bosnia to surpass the 1 billion marka mark, the state-level government should promote the country as an investment destination in leading world media. FIPA also suggested that Bosnia offer incentives to foreign investors based on each new job they open.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is made up of two entities - the Serb Republic and the Federation.
