February 14 (SeeNews) - Austria-based aircraft parts manufacturer FACC said it has created more than 100 jobs at its new plant in Croatia's Jakovlje, in which the initial investment adds up to 10 million euro ($11.4 million).
“We have more than 100 people working in the plant right now and have started production by the end of last year,” the company's spokesperson Jakob Reichsoellner said in an email to SeeNews late on Friday. He did not elaborate, adding that the company is planning to release more details and background information.
Earlier this month, the municipal council of Jakovlje, Zagreb county, said that the first phase of the construction of the plant has been completed, as the second and third phases are planned for the next two years.
FACC announced in mid-2019 that the overall investment in the plant will reach 30 million euro, creating up to 600 qualified jobs. Originally, production was planned to start in 2021 but in 2020 FACC said it would re-evaluate its 33-million-euro project in Croatia as part of measures to deal with a fall in demand due to the coronavirus.
FACC Solutions Croatia will manufacture light-weight cabin interior components for commercial and business aircraft. The plant has an initial footprint of 10,000 square metres.
The FACC group is owned by Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) and manufactures components for aircraft wings, tail assemblies and fuselages as well as engines and cabin interiors for all major aircraft makers.
