SOFIA (Bulgaira), May 19 (SeeNews) – EVN Bulgaria, part of Austrian energy group EVN, said on Friday it has changed the name of its power distribution unit to meet legal requirements set out both in EU and national law.
The new name of EVN Bulgaria Power Distribution is Power Distribution South, EVN Bulgaria said in a press release.
EU and national law require clear differentiation between the identities of a company’s different units in a country.
“In particular, vertically integrated distribution system operators shall not, in their communication and branding, create confusion in respect of the separate identity of the supply branch of the vertically integrated undertaking,” the respective EU directive reads.
Besides a power distribution unit, EVN Bulgaria has a power supply unit, a district heating plant and a unit for electricity trading.
Since 2005, EVN has invested over 1.5 billion levs ($854.7 million/765.7 million euro) in Bulgaria, including 1.3 billion levs in the power distribution network in southeastern Bulgaria where it operates, according to the press release.
