April 26 (SeeNews) - The European Commission approved a 91 million euro ($97 million) Romanian state aid scheme in support of bovine, pig and poultry producers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Commission said on Tuesday.
The aid will be dispatched in the form of direct grants not exceeding 290,000 euro ($310,000) per beneficiary, and no later than June 30, the Commission said in a statement.

The measure is aimed at reducing the liquidity issues faced by farmers as a result of the measures taken by the Romanian government to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.
Of the total support package, bovine farmers will get 170 million lei, 167 million lei have been allocated to swine farmers, while poultry producers are entitled to 116 million lei.
