May 7 (SeeNews) - France-based news provider Euronews said that it signed a partnership agreement with Bulgarian television channel Televizia Evropa to launch a new independent news channel, Euronews Bulgaria, aimed at a Bulgarian-speaking audience.
The new project aims to build on Televizia Evropa's heritage and bring local, regional, national and international news to Bulgarians in their own language, on TV and digital platforms, Euronews said in a statement published on its LinkedIn profile last week.
Euronews also said that Euronews Bulgaria is its fifth branded affiliate project launched since 2018.
"Euronews Albania started broadcasting in November 2019 and Euronews Georgia in September 2020. Euronews Serbia will begin to air before the summer, and Euronews Romania before the end of the year," it added.
Earlier this year, Euronews signed a partnership with University Politehnica of Bucharest (UPB) to launch Euronews Romania, for which it plans to hire 100 people locally.
In 2019, Euronews and Serbian media group HD-WIN inked a partnership deal to launch a Serbian-language TV channel and digital platform where it will also hire 100 people.
According to commercial register data, Sofia-based Televizia Evropa is owned by local DIPI Ltd. which is controlled by private individual Dobrin Ivanov.
Lyon-headquartered Euronews is an international news media, providing news with a European perspective to a worldwide audience through 12 cross-platform editions, of which nine with distinct TV channels, information published on its LinkedIn profile showed.
