November 29 (SeeNews) - Kosovo needs to revoke its decision to increase the import tax levied on all goods produced in Serbia and Bosnia to 100%, the EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said.
The decision of the Kosovo government does not bring any solution to people's problems or to Kosovo's aspirations for its present and its future, Mogherini told Kosovo president Hashim Thaci during a phone call on Wednesday, according to a statement issued by the EU External Action Service.
The increase of the import tax only complicates the situation as it does not help build good neighbourly relations, Mogherini told Thaci during the phone call.
Kosovo's government said last week it would increase the import tax on all goods produced in Serbia and Bosnia to 100% with immediate effect from 10% to protect the country's sovereignty and interests.
Serbia and Bosnia both do not recognise the independence of Kosovo, the former southern province of Serbia populated predominantly by ethnic Albanians.
