TIRANA (Albania), August 3 (SeeNews) – The European Union delegation to Albania said on Friday it inaugurated the upgrade of Hani i Hotit crossing on the country's border with Montenegro.
“The modern border crossing is an opportunity for closer cooperation between Montenegro and Albania authorities,” the EU delegation said in a Twitter post, following the inauguration ceremony.
“The investment benefits the whole region, a stepping stone of the future Adriatic-Ionian motorway, crossing Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Greece and connecting the Western Balkan with the EU,” the statement added.
The EU has invested around 2.5 million euro ($2.9 million) into the reconstruction works at the border crossing, Albania’s interior ministry said in a separate statement.
