November 2 (SeeNews) - The European Commission (EC) will grant Moldova a non-reimbursable financial support of 52 million euro ($51.5 million), the finance ministry announced on Wednesday.
A 27 million euro financing will be granted to Moldova under the EU Reform Support programme, for the improvement of health policies, governance, civil society, and security, the finance ministry said in a post on social media.
A further 25 million euro will be granted to support Moldova's economic and environmental resilience.
"Given the unpredictable consequences of the war in Ukraine, both agreements also aim to address the immediate needs of the affected population, strengthening resilience and the ability to respond to the impact generated by the war," the finance ministry said.
The two agreements will be signed in the following period by Moldova's finance minister Dumitru Budianschi and Lawrence Meredith, director for the EU`s Eastern Neighbourhood.
In June, the European Council decided to grant EU candidate status to Moldova and Ukraine. Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia applied for EU membership in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
