TIRANA (Albania), December 5 (SeeNews) – The European Commission pledges 15 million euro ($16.6 million) for immediate support for Albania to help the EU candidate country recover from last month's devastating earthquake, the president of the Commission said.
“Further, the EU will organise a donors’ conference to help Albania with reconstruction,” Ursula von der Leyen said in a Twitter post late on Wednesday.
A 6.3 magnitude earthquake on November 26, the worst to hit Albania in decades, left 51 people dead and around 3000 injured. Rescuers stopped searching for victims buried under the rubble of collapsed buildings on Saturday.
