July 21 (SeeNews) - Estonian digital lender Bigbank has entered the Bulgarian market, starting with consumer loans for individual clients, it said on Wednesday.
The bank aims to add to its portfolio in Bulgaria in the near future the opportunity to open and manage deposit accounts, housing loans and other services already offered on the markets where it operates, Bigbank said in a statement.
Tallinn-headquartered Bigbank operates in Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Sweden and Finland, offering financial services to both business and individual clients. The bank also offers financial solutions in the form of cross-border services in Germany, the Netherlands and Austria.
"Bigbank is entering the Bulgarian market with the intention to provide modern, reliable and convenient online banking services. We see great potential for this in Bulgaria, especially in the context of COVID, when online services are the safest and therefore the most customer-friendly," Martin Lants, CEO of Bigbank Group, said in the statement.
Clients in Bulgaria can already choose among several types of consumer loans with a maturity of up to 10 years, said Rostislav Rusinov, manager of the bank's Bulgarian branch, adding that the approval process usually takes up to 2 hours.
Bigbank set up a branch in Bulgaria on November 19, 2020, according to data from Bulgaria's commercial register.
The branch has already been entered into the Bulgarian National Bank's register of licensed banks and branches of foreign banks, a SeeNews check showed.
