March 18 (SeeNews) - The European Investment Bank (EIB) said on Thursday that it has a strong pipeline of future hospital, education, road safety and water financing projects it aims to support in Romania this year.
In the coming months, the EIB expects to finalise support for construction of a regional emergency hospital in Iasi and regional hospitals in Craiova and Cluj, it said in a press release.

Also, new schemes to improve road safety across the country, long-term financing to expand and update regional water infrastructure, following support last year for water schemes in Cluj-Salaj, and new initiatives to support business financing and municipal investment are in EIB's pipeline, the bank said.
During 2020, the EIB and the European Investment Fund (EIF) have concluded loan agreements worth 809 million euro ($963 million) with Romanian public and private partners to support COVID-19 resilience, education and water infrastructure, energy efficiency projects and private investment.
"The EUR 809 million new EIB and EIF financing agreed in 2020 will benefit thousands of companies, students and households across the country in the years ahead,” noted Christian Kettel Thomsen, EIB vice president responsible for Romania.
Since 1991 the EIB and EIF have provided more than 17 billion euro for transformational private and public investment across Romania.
