LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), July 7 (SeeNews) – The European Investment Bank (EIB) said on Monday it is considering providing a 180 million euro ($244.5 million) loan to Slovenia to rehabilitate forests damaged by the severe sleet and ice experienced in early 2014.
The project consists of disaster relief activity to conduct sanitary harvesting on approximately 5.0 million cubic meter of damaged timber; investments in harvesting machinery, logistics and minimum processing capacity to permit market access for the harvested wood, the EIB said in a statement.
The loan will be also used for replanting and regeneration of approximately 10,000 hectares of the most badly damaged forest, it said.
