September 22 (SeeNews) - The European Commission (EC) called on Slovenia to fully transpose directives on working conditions, company law, entrepreneurs, sustainable finance and work-life balance for parents and carers into its national legislation.
The Commission sent Slovenia a letter of formal notice concerning pending issues in those areas that the country needs to tackle, it said in a statement.
The EC is calling on Slovenia to comply with the requirements of the Directive on transparent and predictable working conditions which gives workers the right to more predictability regarding assignments and working time, as well as to receive timely and more complete information about the essential aspects of their job, such as place of work and remuneration, the EC noted.
The Commission urged Slovenia to comply with the second chance for entrepreneurs directive through new rules providing the conditions for viable companies in financial difficulty to restructure early to avoid bankruptcy.
Slovenia also needs to comply with the sustainable finance rules, which ask for integration of sustainability factors and objectives in the product governance process, the rules for streamlining company rules on digital tools and processes, as well as the Work-Life Balance Directive, ensuring that fathers/second parents have the right to take at least ten working days of paternity leave around the time of birth of the child.
The country now has two months to reply to the letters of formal notice and complete their transposition, or the Commission may decide to issue a reasoned opinion.
