September 19 (SeeNews) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has signed an agreement to extend by two years a project for inspection reform support to Serbia, a senior EBRD official said.
The EBRD will provide 300,000 euro ($351,000) of financing to Serbia to develop its e-inspection software and also to set up a registry of practices, the director of the EBRD for the Western Balkans, Zsuzsanna Hargitai said in a video file posted on the website of news agency Tanjug on Tuesday.
"In addition, there will be a continued support for the work of the commission on the coordination of inspections," Hargitai said.
The project will be carried out in coordination with the Serbian National Alliance for Local Economic Development (NALED), she added.
The EBRD has been providing technical assistance to the Serbian Public Administration Ministry for the establishment and operation of a Reform Support Division to the Coordination Commission for Inspection Reform by providing funding for the professional staff required to ensure its effective functioning since 2016.
In April 2015, the Serbian Parliament adopted the new umbrella Law on Inspection Oversight and established an inter-ministerial coordination body, the Coordination Commission for Inspections Reform, to coordinate the Inspections Reform Action Plan.
Under Article 12 of the Inspections Law, the Public Administration Ministry is required to establish a support division to support the Coordination Commission.
