April 13 (SeeNews) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said it is providing a 6.5 million euro ($7 million) loan to Bosnia and Herzegovina's Brcko district for the extension and repair of its water supply network.
The district will also benefit from extensive grant funding from the government of Austria and the Central Europe Initiative, the EBRD said in a press release on Tuesday.
The funds will help Brcko build a new 14 kilometre pipeline, a new pumping station and a clean water storage reservoir at Potocari, as well as cover the reconstruction of part of an existing supply pipeline to reduce water losses, the EBRD added.
Through the project, Brcko will join the EBRD Green Cities programme for urban sustainability, which is also supporting investments in Sarajevo, Zenica and Banja Luka.
Bosnia and Herzegovina comprises two autonomous entities - the Federation and the Serb Republic. Brcko is a self-governing administrative unit in northeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina.
