Muresan founded Printivate in 2014 with the objective of developing a unique product for optimizing 3D printing. Printivate was one of the first projects included in the Spherik business accelerator in the city of Cluj.
During the time spent in Spherik, Printivate created an innovative technology that reduces printing time and raw material required by up to 65%, according to the press release. Based on initial feedback from the Romanian market, Printivate transformed itself from a service platform dedicated to online platforms into a tool that repairs 3D models, dedicated to companies active in the field of architecture.
Adrian Muresan will continue his work as research and development lead at 3D Hubs in Amsterdam.
"We have an accelerator and a unique vision, allowing us to support startups founders and to help them build their teams in parallel with their products. We are very happy that Adrian joins 3D Hubs, where he will have the team and resources to build on for millions of users worldwide," Spherik Accelerator managing director, Jennifer Austin, said.
"Our goal is to develop the most effective 3D printing solution for professionals working in the field of design and manufacturing. We will achieve this by integrating the most advanced tool directly into 3D Hubs platform. The acquisition of Printivate is another great step forward," 3D Hubs CEO, Bram de Zwart, said in the press release.
Spherik Accelerator is a program designed for start-ups that offers support on the product, strategy, marketing and scaling. It is part of Fribourg Capital, an investment firm operating in Eastern Europe and CIS countries controlled by Moldovan businessman Ion Sturza.
3D Hubs is an online service dedicated to 3D printing services, with a network of over 20,000 locations in more than 150 countries. 3D Hubs received a $7 million (6.3 million euro) financing in July 2016 from Swedish private equity group EQT Ventures.
