September 29 (SeeNews) - Danish pump manufacturer Grundfos has inaugurated a new production unit at its factory in Indjija, Serbia, it said.
The extension adds 17,000 sq m to the facilities of Grundfos in Indjija and will serve a global market, primarily including circulator pumps, domestic wastewater pumps, domestic pressure boosters and Integrated Water Circuits (IWCs), the company said in a statement on Wednesday.
"This new building helps us expand our production footprint at Grundfos and will enable us to serve our customers even better,” plant director Veljko Todorovic said.
The value of the investment was not disclosed.
The plant has earned a Gold LEED certification, recognising buildings that have been designed, built and maintained meeting sustainability best practices, Grundfos noted.
"Our investment in this world-class plant is a testimony of our commitment to continuously serve our customers faster and with greater efficiency and flexibility. At the same time, we are actively working to reduce our own water and energy footprint," Morten Bach Jensen, Divisional CEO for Domestic Building Services at Grundfos, said.
Grundfos opened the 50 million euro ($48 million) plant in Indjija in 2013. The Danish company launched in 2011 its first Serbian production site, in Nova Pazova. The company also operates manufacturing and assembly facilities in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Finland, Taiwan, China, and Brazil.
