May 4 (SeeNews) - Deichmann Bulgaria, a local unit of German footwear retailer Deichmann, said it increased its turnover to 33.65 million levs ($19 million/17.2 million euro) in 2022 from 24.26 million levs a year earlier.
The company's Bulgarian stores sold 540,000 pairs of shoes last year, including through online sales, which was 90,000 more than in 2021, it said in a press release.
"This strong result means we achieved about4.36 million levs more
in sales than in 2019, the most recent year unaffected by the coronavirus," managing director Vladimir Vladimirov noted.
The footwear retailer plans to refurbish two of its Bulgarian stores this year in line with the group's new store interior concept.
Deichmann, which entered the Bulgarian market in 2009, currently operates 22 stores as well as an online store in the country, and employs 154 staff.
The German group generated total sales of 8.1 billion euro ($8.9 billion) in 2022, from operations in 31 countries. This result exceeded 2019 sales by 23%, according to the statement.
