BELGRADE (Serbia), July 8 (SeeNews) – Danish pump manufacturer Grundfos started the construction of a production unit at its factory in Serbia's Indjija, the Serbian government said on Thursday.
The project for the expansion of the factory will allow Grundfos to increase the number of employees in Indjija to more than 1,000 from the current 900, prime minister Ana Brnabic said during the groundbreaking ceremony, as quoted in a government statement.
Grundfos plans to invest 20 million euro ($23.7 million) in the construction of the production unit, which will have a footprint of 20,000 sq m, news agency Tanjug quoted Indjija mayor Vladimir Gak as saying.
After the completion of the project, the Indjija factory will become the third-largest Grundfos facility globally, Brnabic said in the statement.
Grundfos opened the a 50 million euro plant in Indjija in 2013. The Danish company launched in 2011 its first Serbian production site, in Nova Pazova. The company also operates manufacturing and assembly facilities in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Finland, Taiwan, China, and Brazil.
