January 8 (SeeNews) - Romanian car maker Automobile Dacia, a unit of France's Renault, assembled 313,883 cars in 2017 at its plant in the Romanian town of Mioveni, down from 320,457 in 2016, the Romanian Association of Automobile Manufacturers (ACAROM) said.
Renault produces vehicles under the Dacia brand in the Mioveni plant, as well as in its two plants in Morocco. The company also assembles semi-knocked-down kit (SKD) or car bodies in Russia, Morocco, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, Iran and India.

The decline was mainly due to the manufacturing processes related to the new Dacia Duster and the new Logan and Sandero models, ACAROM said in a statement on its website on Friday.
Dacia also produced 45,036 SKDs for export to Algeria, compared to 42,193 units manufactured in 2016.

Renault has said its worldwide sales under the Automobile Dacia brand reached 591,602 units in the January-November period of 2017, compared to 525,232 units in the same period of 2016.
In September 2016, French business magazine L'Usine Nouvelle reported that Renault will move its Dacia Logan MCV production line from Romania to its plant in Tangiers, in Morocco, in the first quarter of 2017.
Dacia topped the SeeNews ranking of the 100 biggest companies in Southeast Europe for 2016 with a total revenue of 4.6 billion euro ($5.5 billion).
