March 21 (SeeNews) - Croatia's Zagreb airport will hold on Tuesday night a formal opening ceremony for a new passenger terminal which took three years to build, the country's government said.
The terminal will welcome its first passengers on March 28 when it officially begins operating, the government said in a statement.
The new passenger terminal, valued at over 300 million euro ($324.1 million), has an area of 65,000 sq m. It will be able to process 5 million passengers per year in the first phase of the expansion project, the government noted. Further extensions envisaged during the concession period will potentially increase capacity to eight million passengers.
MZLZ, a tie-up of six companies set up to implement the upgrade project under a 30-year concession arrangement with the government, launched works on the new terminal in 2013. MZLZ brings together Aeroports de Paris Management, Bouygues Batiment International, Fond Marguerite, IFC, TAV Airports and Croatia's Viadukt.
