April 25 (SeeNews) - Telekom Austria said on Wednesday its Croatian unit Vipnet recorded a 21.5% year-on-year growth in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) to 25.7 million euro ($31.4 million) in the first three months of the year.
Vipnet's revenues rose by an annual 4.8% to 103.1 million euro in the three months through March, Telekom Austria said in a financial report.
"The Croatian segment continued to exhibit positive operational trends also in Q1 2018 while competition remains mostly visible in large data packages, bundles and convergent products with content becoming increasingly important," Telekom Austria said.
Mobile subscribers grew, with gains in the contract subscriber base due to the strong growth of WiFi routers as well as the ongoing general shift from prepaid to contract in the market. In the fixed-line business, revenue generating units declined due to the shift towards mobile WiFi routers.
