July 26 (SeeNews) - Telekom Austria said on Tuesday its Croatian unit Vipnet recorded a 8.5% year-on-year growth in first-half earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) to 46.7 million euro ($54.4 million) on the back of higher service revenues.
Vipnet's revenues rose by an annual 4.3% on proforma basis to 207 million euro in the six months through June, Telekom Austria said in a financial report on Tuesday.
Croatia's Vipnet saw growth of its fixed-line business and enduring solid mobile trends in the first half of the year. It's mobile business profited from the push towards the higher tariff portfolio and mobile WiFi routers, while its fixed-line business was strengthened by the acquisition of Metronet, which closed on February 15, Telekom Austria noted.
"Mobile subscribers increased by 2.5% year-on-year, with losses in the prepaid segment while the contract subscriber base continued to rise due to the strong growth of mobile WiFi routers as well as the ongoing general shift from prepaid to contract in the market," the telco said.
