August 16 (SeeNews) - Croatian hotel operator Valamar Riviera [ZSE:RIVP] is elevating the status of its Istria-based tourism campsite Istra Sunny Camping and repositioning it into the top segment under a new name, Istria Premium Camping Resort, it said on Thursday.
The second phase of investments in the campsite, located in the seaside village of Funtana, will begin in autumn, Valamar said in a statement sent to SeeNews.
It noted that the upgrade of the Istria campsite will be one of the company's biggest investments in 2019.
Following the completion of works, Istria Premium Camping Resort will offer customers a large family Aquapark, an amusement hall with a cinema, children's playrooms, restaurants, bars, as well as glamping tents and luxury mobile homes with private pools.
"Istria Premium Camping Resort will be the highest-level resort with a rich offer and excellent service that will open up to two hundred new jobs and will surely be one of the best campsites in Europe," said Bruno Rados, regional director in Valamar Riviera.
Valamar Riviera's supervisory board earlier granted a preliminary approval for the investment of 616.5 million kuna ($94.4 million/83 million euro) next year.
The company owns two brands: Valamar Hotels and Resorts and Camping Adriatic. With the acquisition of Imperial in 2016, a hotel operator on the island of Rab, Valamar Riviera Group now operates 30 hotels and resorts and 15 camping resorts in five attractive destinations along the Adriatic coast – from Istria and the islands of Krk and Rab to Dubrovnik.
