June 9 (SeeNews) - Croatian hotel operator Valamar Riviera [ZSE:RIVP-R-A] said on Friday it has opened its 4 star Family Life Bellevue Resort and its 4/5 star Valamar Girandella Resort in Rabac, on the Adriatic, following an investment worth 562 million kuna ($84.7 million/75.8 million euro).
The resorts are expected to position Ramac among the top high star category seaside destinations in Croatia, Valamar said in a statement.
"The project in Rabac is a good example of how investments in tourism have a positive impact on the economy, on developing the location and the quality of life in the town," the president of the company's board, Zeljko Kukurin, is quoted saying.
Family Life Bellevue Resort and Valamar Girandella Resort are this years biggest investments in tourism in Croatia.
The Valamar group runs hotels, apartment villages and campsites in Istria and in Dubrovnik and on the islands of Krk and Pag.
Tourism is a key industry for Croatia, generating around a fifth of the country's gross domestic product.
