February 25 (SeeNews) - Croatia's Split-Dalmatia County plans to invest 6 billion kuna ($872 million/804 million euro) in improving its transport infrastructure, including more than 20 million kuna in ports infrastructure, the government said.
These projects will be implemented thanks to financing from the EU, the state budget and favourable loans from international financial institutions such as the World Bank, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), transport minister Oleg Butkovic said in a statement on the government's website on Monday.
The head of state roads operator Hrvatske Ceste, Josip Skoric, said in the same statement that two transport projects in Split-Dalmatia are of strategic importance for the country - the Solin - Split bypass - Omis section valued at some 2.5 billion kuna, and the Vucevica - Kozjak tunnel - D8 - Split ferry port section that will be built in two phases of combined value of more than 2 billion kuna.
