August 22 (SeeNews) - The first new Bugatti conceived and developed under the Bugatti Rimac joint venture was presented on Saturday in Monterey, California, CEO Mate Rimac said.
“A celebration of the glorious W16 - the last of its kind before we move to the next generation of hybrid Bugattis,” the Croatian businessman said on his Facebook profile.
A total of 99 units will be built at a cost of 5 million euro ($5.0 million) each.
The car has been shown only to existing Bugatti owners during the past weeks and the car has been already completely sold out.
“Bugatti is therefore again sold out (there is no new Bugatti that can be ordered today) - with all production slots being spoken for until the end of 2025,” Rimac added.
Croatian electric supercar manufacturer Rimac Automobili announced in July that it teaming with Volkswagen in the Bugatti Rimac joint venture, with Rimac taking over the French automotive brand Bugatti for an undisclosed sum.
In November, Rimac Automobili said that Bugatti Rimac, its 55:45 joint venture company with Volkswagen's sports cars unit Porsche, has officially started operations.
Bugatti Rimac has its global headquarters at Rimac’s existing base near Croatia's capital Zagreb, but later on it will move to a 200 million euro ($232 million) Rimac Campus under development spreading on 200,000 square metres. It is expected to open in 2023 and would be also also serving as the home of Rimac Technology.
Bugatti Rimac started operating with 435 employees, with 300 of them based in Zagreb, and 135 in Molsheim, France. Further 180 people at Bugatti Engineering’s location in Wolfsburg support the new company, Bugatti Rimac said back then.
Rimac Automobili and Bugatti Automobiles continue to operate as separate brands and manufacturers, retaining their individual production facilities in Zagreb and Molsheim respectively as well as their distribution channels.
