January 28 (SeeNews) - Croatian privately-held do-it-yourself and consumer electronics retailer Pevec has signed a contract for the construction of a 40 million kuna ($5.9 million/5.4 million euro) retail centre in the eastern town of Vinkovci with local construction company Projektgradnja, it told SeeNews on Tuesday.
The centre, the company's 26th, will spread over 5,000 sq m, Pevec told SeeNews in an e-mailed statement. Its official opening is scheduled for the end of summer.
The construction of the new retail centre will open 50 new jobs, Pevec CEO Jurica Lovrincevic said.
The investment is part of Pevec's strategic goal to be present in all Croatian towns with a population of 15,000 and over.
In the last three years, the company acquired eight existing retail centres, opened five new ones and employed some 600 new workers.
