October 11 (SeeNews) - Croatian fertiliser producer Petrokemija [ZSE:PTKM] said on Monday that a technical problem at its urea and ammonia production plants was fixed but production will not resume because of high energy prices.
“The plants will remain shut down until further notice in order to optimise and align business operations to the conditions on the gas market and the record-high prices of natural gas and CO2 in Europe,” the company said in a filing to the Zagreb bourse.
Sufficient quantities of mineral fertilisers have been secured to maintain the supply of domestic and regional markets during downtime, it noted.
Petrokemija said on September 22 that it shut the plants down due to a technical failure, adding that the plants will resume operation after the problem is resolved.
The company's shares traded at 44 kuna ($6.8/5.9 euro) on the Zagreb bourse on Monday morning, up 5.77%.
