September 21 (SeeNews) - Croatian fertiliser producer Petrokemija [ZSE:PTKM-R-A] said it has completed a project that will result in savings in electricity consumption of about 3.4 GWh per year.
The project for boosting energy efficiency, with a two-year investment return period, involved the overhaul of the electric motor drive systems and part of the external lighting system, Petrokemija said in a filing to the Zagreb Stock Exchange on Wednesday.
Petrokemija has also introduced remote sensing of energy and has installed an ESCO Monitor computerised business management system that provides insight into consumption, the company said.
The project was carried out by HEP ESCO, a unit of Croatian state-owned energy utility HEP, under a contract signed in November 2016.
Earlier this year, Petrokemija launched a recapitalisation project to modernise the manufacturing facilities, provide sources of financing, to improve the company's position on Croatian and regional markets, and to increase the efficiency processes of maintenance, logistics and other services.
The government controls some 80% of Petrokemija.
