June 11 (SeeNews) - Croatia's country strategy for the period 2019-2024 will have a special focus on creating opportunities in the poorer regions and for the most vulnerable people, the World Bank said.
"We look forward to preparing the Country Strategy for 2019-2024 with the Government of Croatia, and supporting the implementation of the National Reform Program", Cyril Muller, World Bank vice president for Europe and Central Asia, said in a statement late on Friday, after he met with Croatia's president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic and prime minister Andrej Plenkovic.
They met to discuss the preparation of the World Bank Group country strategy 2019-2024 and how the World Bank can help Croatia achieve sustainable and inclusive growth for all citizens.
Muller noted that the country strategy will also aim to increase productivity and competitiveness, as well as deepen technology adoption and innovation, all in view of increasing the country's growth potential.
He also said said the World Bank is encouraged by Croatia’s economic recovery and progress on fiscal consolidation and debt reduction, according to the statement.
To date, the World Bank has supported more than 50 operations in Croatia amounting to around $3.5 billion (4.1 billion euro).
