September 27 (SeeNews) - The main equity indices of the Zagreb Stock Exchange (ZSE) kept on falling on Tuesday as most of the blue chips ended lower, bourse data showed.
The 22-share CROBEX lost 0.65% to close at 1,935.63 points, falling for eight straight sessions. The narrower index CROBEX10, which tracks the top ten companies in terms of free float, market capitalisation and liquidity, dropped 0.94% to close at 1,143.24 points, extending its losing streak for a third day.
Shipping company Tankerska Next Generation [ZSE:TPNG], which is part of the CROBEX, but not a constituent of the CROBEX10, was the most traded share on Tuesday. In block trading, it registered a turnover of 70.2 million kuna ($9.2 million/9.6 million euro) as 899,376 shares changed hands at a price of 78 kuna per share. In regular trading, its shares gained 4.26% to end at 78.40 kuna in a turnover of 4.6 million kuna.
Tankerska Next Generation has been the most liquid company on the bourse in the last five sessions as its peer Tankerska Plovidba is increasing its share in it. As of Friday, Tankerska Plovidba's share in Tankerska Next Generation has reached 79.64%.
In regular trading, consumer goods distributor Atlantic Grupa [ZSE:ATGR] ranked second by turnover on Tuesday. Its shares fell 0.55% to end at 360 kuna in a turnover of 2.0 million kuna.
Shares of lender Hrvatska Postanska Banka [ZSE:HPB] ended flat at 830 kuna in a turnover of 1.98 million kuna.
Electrical equipment maker Koncar Elektroindustrija [ZSE:KOEI] ended flat at 855 kuna in a turnover of 1.8 million kuna.
Among the other blue chips, food and pharmaceuticals producer Podravka [ZSE:PODR] fell 0.35%, hotel owner and operator Valamar Riviera [ZSE:RIVP] dropped 2.02% and shipping company Atlantska Plovidba lost 2.83%.
The Zagreb Stock Exchange was the biggest daily gainer as its shares surged 9.09% to 24 kuna on the news that the bourse approved on Tuesday a 500,000 kuna share buyback programme.
The bourse's total trading turnover reached 89.8 million kuna from 21.6 million on Monday, lifted by the block deal with Tankerska's shares.
