February 28 (SeeNews) - Croatian port operator Luka Rijeka Group [ZSE:LKRI] said its consolidated EBITDA rose to 60.1 million kuna ($8.5 million/8.0 million euro) in 2022, from 5.7 million kuna a year earlier.
The port of Rijeka's total revenues came in at 279.6 million kuna last year, which represents an annual increase of 42%, the group said in a filing to the Zagreb bourse.
Expenses grew more slowly than revenue, by 9% to 213.2 million kuna, positively influencing EBITDA, the company added.
In 2022, the port of Rijeka handled 6,305,036 tonnes of cargo, compared to 5,538,955 tonnes in 2021. General cargo increased by 9% to 719,094 tonnes. Bulk cargo traffic also increased, by 4%. The most significant growth rate, of 19%, was achieved in container traffic, which amounted to 4,016,163 tonnes.
Luka Rijeka's shares traded 3.55% higher on the Zagreb bourse intraday on Tuesday, at 8.75 euro.
Rijeka, situated in the northern part of the Kvarner Bay, is the largest seaport in Croatia.
