May 28 (SeeNews) - Croatian pharmacy chain Ljekarna Splitsko-Dalmatinske Zupanije (SDZ) said it has opened a new galenic laboratory and office building as part of a 100 million kuna ($14.5 million/13.2 million euro) investment project.
The gross area of the facilities that include the laboratory, the office building and some storage space is 3,473 sq m, Ljekarna SDZ said in a statement earlier this week.
The company added that an overall 70 million kuna of own funds have been invested in the project so far, while its local unit Pharmagal d.o.o. plans an additional investment in a research and development laboratory, staff training, equipment supply and logistics development in order to start offering its products to markets outside the pharmaceutical industry.
The company said its production and sale of own medicinal preparations have jumped five times in the past five years. Ljekarna SDZ serves more than 900 partners across Croatia and its revenue totalled more than 300 million kuna in 2019, it added.
Ljekarna SDZ, owned by the Split-Dalmatia County, is the largest pharmacy chain in the southern region of Dalmatia. Its network comprises 35 pharmacy units, 3 pharmaceutical depots, as well as a galenic lab and an analytical laboratory. It employs some 280 people.
