July 11 (SeeNews) - Croatian retailer Konzum, a member of ailing concern Agrokor, reported earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of 42.6 million kuna ($6.7 million/5.8 million euro) in the five months through May, the concern said on Wednesday.
Konzum's EBITDA margin came in at 1.2% in the first five months of 2018, while revenues totalled 3.313 billion kuna, Agrokor said in a statement quoting preliminary figures.
Total cumulative revenue is slightly below the plan due to the lower performance of non-core businesses which, by design, achieve a lower relative margin and therefore do not significantly affect the overall business performance, Agrokor noted.
Rationalisation measures and cost management resulted in cumulative operating expenses being lower than planned by 2.3%, although in May, a seasonal bonus of 1,200 kuna that had been planned for June was paid to all employees.
Overall, the companies in Agrokor's retail and wholesale segment, which also includes Konzum's Bosnian unit, newsstand operator Tisak and wholesaler Velpro, recorded EBITDA of 3.3 million kuna in the five months through May.
The combined revenue of Konzum, Tisak and Velpro totalled 4.9 billion kuna.
