June 13 (SeeNews) - Croatian retailer Konzum, a member of ailing concern Agrokor, reported earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of 26 million kuna ($4.1 million/3.5 million euro) in the four months through April, according to preliminary estimates released by the concern.
Konzum's EBITDA margin came in at 1.0% in the first four months of 2018, while revenues totalled 2.6 billion kuna, Agrokor said in a statement late on Tuesday.
Total sales revenue year-to-date was 0.9% below plan as a result of the weaker performance of the non-core wholesale, transit and fuel businesses with smaller relative margins, Agrokor noted.
The concern noted that as a result of a number of measures implemented to reduce expenses and maximise profitability, operating costs were lower than the monthly plan and lower year-to-date.
Overall, the companies in Agrokor's retail and wholesale segment, which also includes Konzum's Bosnian unit, news stand operator Tisak and wholesaler Velpro, recorded a negative EBITDA of 13.2 million kuna in the four months through April, with a margin of -0.3%.
The combined revenue of Konzum, Tisak and Velpro totalled 3.8 billion kuna, exceeding the revenues of the concern's food and agriculture segments which raised 2.1 billion kuna and 642 million kuna, respectively.
