August 19 (SeeNews) - Croatian electrical equipment manufacturer Koncar Elektroindustrija [ZSE:KOEI] said on Thursday that an unnamed Austrian company has chosen its unit Koncar Generators and Motors (GIM) to supply equipment and works for the construction of Gratkorn hydro power plant on the Mura river near Graz.
“The contracted scope of work also includes the delivery of two new generators, each with a power of 7 MVA, a speed of 107.14 rpm and a voltage of 5.3 kV, a contactless excitation system of the company KONČAR – Electronics and Informatics, spare parts, special tools and devices used for equipment installation and assembly, commissioning and pre-commissioning,” Koncar said in a notе published on its website.
Koncar did not disclose the value of the deal that it won in a tender called by the Austrian company in early 2020. Construction works will start in September, while the completion of field work for both generators is scheduled for February 2024.
Gratkorn is a joint venture project of two Austrian electricity companies - VERBUND and Energie Steiermark, with the total investment in the power plant running at 62 million euro ($72 million), according to a note published on the website of VERBUND in March 2020.
GIM has also contracted the design and delivery of the first of three new replacement generators and associated equipment for hydro power plant Ering-Frauenstein located on the Inn river on the border between Germany and Austria. The second generator is expected to be ordered at the end of this year.
Koncar's shares traded 0.67% lower at 740 kuna ($115/99 euro) on Thursday morning on the Zagreb bourse.
