November 18 (SeeNews) - Croatian electrical equipment manufacturer Koncar Elektroindustrija [ZSE:KOEI] said it has completed a tram delivery deal worth almost 21 million euro ($22 million) to the town of Liepaja in Latvia.
On November 14, the last one of a batch of fourteen low-floor trams contracted for public transport in the city of Liepaja left the manufacturing facility at Koncar's unit for manufacturing of electric vehicles and is now en route to the customer, where it is expected to arrive on November 20, Koncar said in a press release earlier this week.
Koncar and tram operator Liepajas Tramvajs signed in November 2018 an agreement for the delivery of six low-floor trams, with an option for additional delivery. In August 2020, Liepajas tramvajs secured funds for six more trams, followed by two trams in September 2021.
The deal was co-funded by the EU.
The first two trams were commissioned on March 18, 2021.
Koncar's shares last traded on the Zagreb bourse on Thursday, ending flat at 840 kuna ($115/111 euro).
On Friday, the bourse is closed due to remembrance day for the victims of the homeland war and the victims of Vukovar and Skabrnja, a public and market holiday in Croatia. It will reopen on Monday, November 21.
