June 1 (SeeNews) - Croatia's consumer prices increased by 7.9% year-on-year in May, and were 0.5% higher month-on-month, the statistical office said in a first estimate on Thursday.
On an annual level, prices of food, beverages and tobacco rose 13.5% in May, prices of industrial non-food products excluding energy went up 8.5%, prices of services increased 8.0% and energy prices fell 3.1%, the Bureau of Statistics said.
The statistical office will release on June 16 final data on consumer price inflation for May .
Croatia, which joined the euro area on January 1, saw annual inflation of 8.9% in April. On a monthly level, consumer prices added 1.0% in April.
According to a flash estimate released by Eurostat on Thursday, measured by the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), prices of goods and services for personal consumption in Croatia rose in May by 8.3% year-on-year on average, following an increase of 8.9% in April. On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices added an estimated 0.6% in May.
