May 10 (SeeNews) - Croatian oil and gas company INA [ZSE:INA] plans to build a solar power plant with installed capacity of seven to eight megawatts in Virje, some 115 km northeast of Zagreb, Balkan Green Energy News (BGEN) portal reported.
INA has submitted a request for an estimation of the need for an environmental impact assessment, BGEN reported on Thursday, quoting documents submitted by INA to the ministry of environment protection and energy.
The Virje solar power plant will spread on an area of 147,000 square meters within the Molve central gas station.
Part of the electricity generated by the photovoltaic plant will be used by INA's production facilities while most of the energy will be sold to state-owned power utility Hrvatska Elektroprivreda (HEP).
Earlier this month, Croatian media reported that INA intends to build a solar power plant with installed capacity of two to three megawatts at the site of its Sisak oil refinery, some 60 km southeast of Zagreb, which will spread on 33,000 square meters.
The estimated production per kW of installed power of the two planned solar power plants amounts to some 1,000 to 1,200 kWh annually, depending on the chosen type of photovoltaic modules, orientation, and inclination angles, which means that the two planned power plants could generate 11 MWh to 13.2 MWh per year, BGEN said.
