February 7 (SeeNews) - Croatian civil engineering company IGH [ZSE:IGH] said it has signed a 10 million kuna ($1.5 million/1.3 million euro) deal to supervise the construction of the Skurinje-Port of Rijeka road section in partnership with two local firms.
The contract was awarded by state roads operator Hrvatske Ceste to IGH and its partners Ucka-Konzalting and Geokon-Zagreb, IGH said in an e-mailed statement on Thursday.
The 32-month contract aims to provide quality management and successful completion of the investment envisaged by the project via expert construction, geodetic and financial supervision of works on the 3.5-kilometre road section that will connect the western part of Croatia's largest Adriatic port of Rijeka to the city's bypass road.
The construction of the section is valued at 461 million kuna without VAT, according to earlier media reports. Hrvatske Ceste is still to decide on choosing the best bidder in an ongoing tender for the construction. A consortium comprising Croatia's GP Krk, Slovenia's Kolektor and Bosnia's Euro-Asfalt has reportedly submitted the lowest bid of 456.3 million kuna in the tender.
In December 2018, Croatia received EU financing to support the project. Out of the total value of 520 million kuna, the EU has provided a grant of some 442 million kuna (85% of the total cost eligible for financing), while the remaining 78 million kuna is coming from the state budget.
Works on the section are expected to last three years.
