ZAGREB (Croatia), July 9 (SeeNews) – Croatia's biggest telecommunications operator, Hrvatski Telekom [ZSE:HT-R-A], said on Monday it plans to start offering 5G services to its customers in 2020.
The 5G services will be fully developed in Croatia in the period between 2025 and 2030, Hrvatski Telekom said in a statement.
Hrvatski Telekom has already implemented the first network operating at the 3.5 GHz spectrum with a pre-installed 5G system in Croatia, Hrvatski Telekom said.
In this way, the country is among the first in Europe where 5G functionality was demonstrated in real infrastructure conditions, the company added.
In April, Zagreb-based telecommunications equipment manufacturer Ericsson Nikola Tesla said it signed an agreement with Hrvatski Telekom for the modernisation of its mobile network, which will be completed by the end of 2019.
In the first half of the year, Hrvatski Telekom installed 137 5G-compatible base stations in the region of Istria. Since the beginning of July, activities have continued in Zagreb, the company said.
