ZAGREB (Croatia), August 26 (SeeNews) – Croatia's energy market operator, HROTE, said it will sell electricity from renewable sources (RES) via three different methods from January 1, 2017.
Apart from selling RES energy on the Croatian power exchange, CROPEX, HROTE will also offer renewable electricity via auctions for standard time periods such as annually, half-yearly, quarterly or on a monthly level, it said in a statement published on its website mid week.

In addition, market participants will be able to sign framework agreements with HROTE to insure RES supply for not more than one calendar year ahead.
The changes to RES distribution are in line with Croatia's law on renewable energy and high-efficiency cogeneration adopted by parliament in September last year, under which HROTE will act as a balance responsible party for renewable energy projects within the feed-in scheme in Croatia.
Currently, electricity suppliers in Croatia are obliged to purchase RES electricity - under the feed-in scheme - from HROTE at regulated prices.
