November 20 (SeeNews) - Croatian heating energy supplier HEP Toplinstvo will invest 700 million kuna ($110 million/93 million euro) in the revamp of 68.5 kilometres of the hot water network in Zagreb backed by EU funding, the country's energy utility HEP said.
The total project cost is 556.1 million kuna, of which the EU will grant 421.5 million kuna, while the remainder will be covered from the company's budget, HEP said in a press release on Thursday.
The project will improve the heating energy supply of some 100,000 households in the Croatian capital and will reduce heat losses by 28% two years after its implementation. The overhaul is expected to result in reduction of CO2 emissions by 11,104 tonnes by 2025, as compared to the pre-revamp period.
The project should be completed by end-2023.
