February 21 (SeeNews) - Croatia's state-owned power utility Hrvatska Elektroprivreda (HEP) said its unit, distribution system operator HEP ODS, is investing 23.4 million euro ($25 million) in a European Union-backed pilot project for deploying advanced networks.
Almost 20 million euro of the total cost of the project is a grant from the European Regional Development Fund, HEP said in a press release on Monday.
As part of the project, HEP ODS is investing in advanced measurement infrastructure, development and optimisation of conventional network and automation of medium voltage network in the distribution areas of Osijek, Zagreb, Split, Zadar and Dubrovnik.
