August 27 (SeeNews) - Croatian hotel operator Hoteli Dubrovacka Rivijera (HDR), majority-owned by Zagreb-based HUP, said the Sheraton Dubrovnik Riviera Hotel is set to officially open its doors to guests on Friday, marking the final phase of the group’s largest investment in the country's south.
The hotel, located in Srebreno, along a 20 km stretch of coastline that runs from the old city of Dubrovnik to the town of Cavtat, boasts 239 rooms, 11 suites and the largest convention centre in Croatia, HDR said in a press release made available to SeeNews on Thursday.
Apart from the Sheraton property, HUP has been involved in the modernisation and upgrade of a number of tourist accommodation and service units in Mlini and Srebreno, investing some 80 million euro ($90.2 million) over the span of two years.
Since 2013, the group has upgraded Hotel Astarea in Mlini to a four-star category, has invested in a four-star boutique hotel with 90 accommodation units and is currently working on completing a revamp of four villas within the Sheraton complex. The completion of the investment program should raise the accommodation units in HDR's portfolio to nearly 750.
In addition, the construction of a complex in the center of Srebreno is underway which includes a shopping centre and 20 luxury apartments, while soon the renovation will begin of the existing Ceske Banje beach with plans to turn it into a lounge bar in line with the latest market trends, HDR said.
