September 21 (SeeNews) - Croatian telecommunications equipment manufacturer Ericsson Nikola Tesla [ZSE:ERNT] said on Friday it has opened a research and development centre in the city of Osijek.
The new R&D centre follows the opening of similar facilities in Zagreb and Split, where employees are engaged in the development of 4 and 5G technology, Ericsson Nikola Tesla said in a Zagreb bourse filing.
The company has already employed 30 people to set up shop in Osijek and there are plans to increase their number, the company noted.
"Instead of our young leaving Slavonia and moving abroad, the world is coming to Slavonia with the help of our ICT experts," said Gordana Kovacevic, the CEO of the company.
Ericsson Nikola Tesla Group had a total of 3,060 employees at the end of 2017.
Sweden's Ericsson owns 49.07% of the Croatian company.
The municipality of Osijek is situated in Slavonia, a historic region in Croatia.
