ZAGREB (Croatia), September 23 (SeeNews) – Croatian local district heating company Energo is set to begin tendering for the 6.2 million euro ($7 million) Rijeka District Heating project in the fourth quarter of the year, aiming to upgrade the heating network in the coastal town, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said.
The project will encompass the rehabilitation of existing district heating network and district heating substations with integrated energy management implementation, the construction of a new power plant with supply and installation of gas fired boilers and the supply and installation of cooling equipment for district cooling services, the EBRD, which is financing the project, said in a procurement notice earlier this week.
Energo is the exclusive provider of district heating services in the Rijeka area on the Adriatic coast under a 30-year concession agreement signed in 2006.
In March 2014, the EBRD said it is providing 10 million euro for district heating projects in Rijeka.
