December 30 (SeeNews) - Croatia's gross external debt stood at 48.5 billion euro ($51.9 billion) at the end of September, an equivalent to 74.6% of the estimated gross domestic product (GDP), and was lower by 1.1 billion euro, or 4.8 percentage points of GDP, compared to end-June, the central bank said on Friday.
The decline was due mostly to a fall in debt of the government and other domestic sectors, including liabilities towards affiliated creditors abroad, and a growth in nominal GDP, the central bank said in a statement.
Croatia's gross external debt totalled 46.6 billion euro at the end of September 2021.
Croatia's economy expanded by 5.2% year-on-year in real terms in the third quarter, following annual growth of 8.7% in the second quarter and a 16.7% increase in the third quarter of last year, the statistical office said last month.
