July 15 (SeeNews) - Croatia's Adriatic city of Dubrovnik said it has opened a new drinking water treatment plant following a 56.5 million kuna ($8.6 million/7.7 million euro) investment.
The investment was financed with the proceeds of a credit from the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development (HBOR) with plans to refinance as bigger part of it as possible from EU funds, the Dubrovnik city council said in a statement on Sunday, when the new facility was launched.
The plant was built by French-based utility company Suez, which will monitor its work in the coming year during the facility's testing period.
Suez will thereafter hand over the management of the water treatment plant to the regional public enterprise for water supply and sewerage, Vodovod Dubrovnik.
